Mission Statement

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce Pikes Peak Respite Services! 

  PPRS was developed due to a need in our community for support of individuals with disabilities and those who care for them. Respite care is defined as providing a break to primary caregivers for individual with developmental disabilities and medical conditions that require intense daily caregiving for activities of daily living.  

Caregivers that work for PPRS undergo a fingerprint background check with CBI and FBI, CPR/First Aid, as well as intense training programs, all with in the first 90 days. Our caregivers have compassion and the desire and to work with people with varying needs and our staff turn-over is very low.

Pikes Peak Respite Services began in 2004, when I answered an advertisement at UCCS to work with a teenage girl with Down's Syndrome and Autism- a very difficult diagnosis, it was my job to provide care as well as get this young lady into the community and provide her parents a break. We had a wonderful summer! This one client soon turned into ten and I found the need for quality respite was great in Colorado Springs. I opened up my home for full-time caregiving and began hiring caregivers to help with the expanding client load. Our client base has steadily grown over years and our caregiving reputation is superb! 

Pikes Peak Respite Services has a bright future! We go above and beyond the standards in caregiving.

  We currently contract with The Resource Exchange, Colorado Respite Coalition, School District 49, Easter Seals, Department of Human Services and Family Support Services, and Tricare. Additionally, we accept private insurance and private pay. PPRS provides services to individuals in Aurora, El Paso, Teller, Pueblo and Park counties, with future expansions in the works. 

The need for quality caregiving is only growing and expected to continue rising. Although we began strictly as a respite service provider, we recognized the need for more services have and expanded to include High Fidelity Wrap Around, Host Home Services, Homemaker Services, Community Connector, Supported Community Connector, Mentorship, and Supportive Employment Services.  We are a diverse company providing care to individuals with disabilities, the elderly, those recovering from surgery, or anyone just needing extra assistance. Currently most of our clients hear about PPRS through word of mouth- we are excited to launch a marketing program introducing PPRS to parents through schools, doctors, community centers, and we are expecting continual growth. 

  My oldest son was diagnosed with autism in 2003 and I learned to advocate for my son and I became an expert on autism. I have personally learned to turn challenges into learning experiences and opportunity. I have a passion for educating parents and providing quality services so every family can avoid caregiving burnout, divorce, loss of friends and depression.
